Accounting Clerk
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting/Finance Department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Superintendent the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Updating and maintenance of the Accounts Receivables Sub Ledger and Receivable Invoice Logbook.
- Preparing journal entries and ensuring proper documentation and approval.
- Preparing contractor, intercompany and alumina sales invoices.
- Participating in Fixed Asset verification process.
- Completing special projects to meet requisite financial control activities necessary to enable compliance with financial and business processes mandated by management.
- Assisting with internal and external audits.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
- Providing support to other members of the accounting team as required.
Qualification and Experience
To be considered you must have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Management Studies or other related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Accounting related field.
- Knowledge of computer-based applications (Oracle Fusion) Accounting, Solomon-Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
- High level of proficiency in use of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a team setting, with minimal supervision, work on own initiative and be able to meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Powerhouse Department Supervisor
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of Department Supervisor in the Powerhouse Department at the Halse Hall location in Clarendon.
Reporting to the Powerhouse Superintendent the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with all environment, health and safety rules and regulations to prevent incidents and maintain the safety of employees.
- Providing the requisite support services to successfully maintain and operate the Powerhouse equipment and auxiliaries to facilitate the distribution of uninterrupted supply of steam, power and compressed air to the refinery at the specified conditions of pressure, temperature and voltage.
- Providing leadership and direction to identify and troubleshoot operational variabilities and maintenance problems within the department.
- Supervising and monitoring the daily operations of the Powerhouse to ensure efficient energy production and distribution to the refinery and making the necessary adjustments as required to meet energy demands of the operations.
- Providing daily operating and maintenance plans to Powerhouse Operating Technicians and Maintenance Supervisor to ensure efficient operations of the Powerhouse.
- Coordinating all major overhauls, maintenance and repairs activities within the department to prevent operational interruptions and prolong the lifespan of the equipment.
- Managing and executing the department’s training program to foster continuous skills and knowledge development of department personnel
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered you must have:
- A diploma in engineering, particularly mechanical, electrical, or power engineering or High school education and a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a Fuel Oil-Fired Steam Power Plant Operations or similar industrial setting.
- A Certificate of Completion for NUS Power Principles training program, or its equivalent for utility operations is advantageous.
- Sound operations knowledge of a refining plant Powerhouse including the operations of TDC systems and strong analytical abilities to troubleshoot and manage operational data.
- Strong leadership skills and prior supervisory experience are essential.
- A high level of organization, coordination and persuasion skills are also required.

Machinist/Millwright
An opportunity has arisen for experienced and suitably qualified Machinist/Millwrights to join our Machine Shop team at the Halse Hall location in Clarendon.
Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Carrying out fabrication, preventative, corrective and overhaul services and repairs of pumps, gear boxes and other rotating equipment.
- Maintaining high level of shop repairs and maintenance through the use of timely overhauls and corrective maintenance of the varied mechanical equipment that are used in the operating areas.
- Using standard operating procedures, standardized workflow and advanced diagnostic techniques and tools to achieve and maintain the reliability and functionality of hydraulic, mechanical and related equipment.
- Knowing and practicing Jamalco’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy, values, principles, standards and procedures.
- Providing knowledge, resource and a high degree of mechanical competence for the timely execution of shop repairs.
Qualification and Experience
To be considered you must have:
- A secondary school education with certified passes in at least three (3) at GCE/CSEC level or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.
- A recognized certificate in craft training.
- At least four (4) years working experience in Machining or equipment repairs such as gearboxes, pumps, and valves.
