Process Control Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Process Control Engineer to join the Process Control Department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Reporting to the Information & Process Systems Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing the Lean manufacturing tools to improve Jamalco’s efficiency. These include, but are not limited to practical problem solving, A3 thinking, PDCA methodologies, 5S, Kaizens, connections, and critical analysis.
  • Establishing user process and control objectives, and coordinating with site technical, reliability, production, and process personnel to ensure objectives and requirements of control strategies are aligned with location’s business objectives.
  • Assisting project teams with technical issues requiring knowledge and understanding of site’s plant process, process control issues, methodologies, standards, and end user requirements.
  • Performing or overseeing significant modifications to existing applications to satisfy changes in user or process requirements.
  • Reviewing base control loop performance and reducing variability in related control loops for optimum performance.
  • Coordinating implementation and commissioning of new applications from the Quasar initiative with area operating and technical personnel
  • Coordinate the generation of training package for console operator training of new applications as required.
  • Conducting risk analysis and safety review of new applications.
  • Coding, compiling, and linking any advanced process control application’s code (such as CL code, CL packages, CDS parameter definitions etc.).

 Qualification and Experience

 

To qualify you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering.
  • At least three years working experience in Process Control and have a good knowledge of the Bayer Alumina Process and Honeywell Distributed Process Control systems.
  • Sound knowledge of computer programming and Microsoft applications is mandatory.
  • AutoCAD or VISIO experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in multicultural teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Process Control Systems Technician

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Process Control Systems Technician to join our Refinery Automation team at Jamalco, Halse Hall, Clarendon.

Under the direction of the Information & Process Systems Superintendent the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Monitor Local Control Network (LCN) and Universal Control Network (UCN) health on a daily basis and resolve identified issues.
  • Maintain process control system health by effective predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Provide on-call support for the process control infrastructure and applications.
  • Complete System compliance audits and close-out of associated actions.
  • Assist with PCN/LCN/UCN infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and operational problems with installed systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Jamalco’s policies and values for environment, health and safety.

Qualification and Experience

To be considered the incumbent must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems, Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and calibration skills.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with Honeywell Total Plant Solution (TPS) System would be an asset

ERP Systems Analyst

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified ERP Systems Analyst to join our Information Services team at the Halse Hall location in Clarendon.

Reporting to the Staff Systems Analyst, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical and functional support for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Working with customers and developers to design enhancements to the ERP applications in line with company and industry standards.
  • Assisting in the implementation and deployment of new ERP modules, reports, enhancements and add-ons.
  • Preparing organization for ERP system upgrades.
  • Maintaining user access to the ERP in compliance with audit requirements.
  • Researching and recommending innovative technology options to improve business processes.
  • Providing backup support for other application support personnel.
  • Supporting the department’s self-assessment/audit activities.

Qualification and Experience

To be considered the incumbent must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or a related course with an emphasis on software or database management
  • At least two (2) years working experience with an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of audit requirements for information systems will be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Transactional query tool, SQL Server and Oracle databases will be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Windows operating systems and security administration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relational databases.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.

  • Improving competence in the use of engineering/reliability and communications skills in order to provide timely responses to situations requiring immediate and/or longer term actions;
  • Providing the engineering skills necessary to cost effectively improve the reliability of operations process equipment;
  • Providing consultation and assistance to the Maintenance and Operating departments regarding technically sound equipment maintenance and operating procedures, practices and techniques;
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining the Refinery’s Predictive Maintenance Program throughout the operations to improve the availability of production equipment while reducing the overall long term unit costs of maintenance;
  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of a modern, efficient and effective lubrication process for all refinery equipment.

Accounting Clerk

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting/Finance Department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Superintendent the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Updating and maintenance of the Accounts Receivables Sub Ledger and Receivable Invoice Logbook.
  • Preparing journal entries and ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Preparing contractor, intercompany and alumina sales invoices.
  • Participating in Fixed Asset verification process.
  • Completing special projects to meet requisite financial control activities necessary to enable compliance with financial and business processes mandated by management.
  • Assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
  • Providing support to other members of the accounting team as required.

Qualification and Experience

To be considered you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Management Studies or other related discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Accounting related field.
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications (Oracle Fusion) Accounting, Solomon-Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in use of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a team setting, with minimal supervision, work on own initiative and be able to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
