Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Professional

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, suitably qualified and experienced Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Professional (Environmental Management) to join the EHS team at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Reporting to the EHS Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialized process knowledge and professional environmental management expertise to achieve Jamalco’s policy and to comply with and government regulations.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and advising on environmental impacts of proposed capital projects associated with the refinery, port and mining operations.
  • Provide support to the location in reviewing to prevent environmental incidents.
  • Maintaining, improving, and deploying environmental trainings for employees, contractors, subcontractors and contracted services.
  • Providing technical leadership/support in improving the ISO 14001 EMS through continuous improvements initiatives such as Best Practices in environmental management and pollution prevention.

Qualification and Experience

To be considered you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or Natural Sciences.
  • A minimum of three (3) years work experience gained through in-depth work with environmental control technology, production processes and unit operation in the Bauxite/Alumina Industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, consultants, government agencies and visitors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

Power Station Operator

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Power Station Operator

to join the Powerhouse team at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

 

Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in monitoring and maintaining control of process associated with boiler steam generations, power generations and air compression.
  • Ensuring that operating downtime is minimized by applying appropriate troubleshooting techniques and corrective actions and taking decisions on stopping and starting equipment such as pumps and air compressors.
  • Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analysis and ISO standard.
  • Complying with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, concerning the cleanliness of assigned work areas.
  • Working cooperatively in a team environment and using initiative to make suggestions and recommendations for continued improvement; and
  • Collaborating with the Department Supervisor and Operating Technicians to achieve the department’s accountability objectives and being involved in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Jamalco Business Systems (JBS) activities.

Qualifications & Experience

The incumbent shall posses the following minimum requirements:

  • High school education with certified passes at GCE/CXC/CSEC level in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years Bayer Process experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Good computer skills.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, suitably qualified and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our Human Resources team at Jamalco in Halse Hall, Clarendon.  

Reporting to the Employment, Compensation & Benefits Supervisor, the successful candidate

will be responsible for:

  • Interpreting HR policies and procedures and communicating to line management.
  • Assisting with the recruitment and selection activities.
  • Providing efficient and timely Employment, Compensation and Benefits services.
  • Performing clerical and administrative duties related to the disbursement of benefits.
  • Reporting on key metrics including vacation, absenteeism, turnover.
  • Integrating with the HR Team in providing progressive HR client-services

Inventory Control Analyst

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of Inventory Control Analyst in the Stores/Receiving department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

 

Reporting to the Stores Administrator, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Reconciling delivery and picking documentation against the system transactions.
  • Ensuring new items are assigned locators and stored based on item classification.
  • Analyzing and rectifying gaps in the labeling process.
  • Updating fuel transactions as required.
  • Identifying gaps in Oracle and in the physical location and taking the appropriate remedial actions.
  • Operating in accordance with the Company’s environment, health, and safety practices.

Qualification and Experience

Construction Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for experienced and suitably qualified Construction Engineers to join the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Under the direction of the Capital Expenditure Manager or designee, the successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Providing engineering assistance to the Design Engineer as required during peer and internal review of engineering work packages.
  • Performing constructability reviews of all engineering work packages prior to the documents being routed for approval.
  • Preparing all construction engineering documentation required before and during the construction phase of projects in support of the team leaders and other nominated customers.
  • Ensuring contractors implement appropriate Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs so that materials and workmanship comply with the requirements of the specifications, drawings and relevant standards.
  • Performing quality assurance checks along with the relevant design engineer during the construction phase of the projects at pre-determined hold points.
  • Ensuring the environmental, health and safety principles of Jamalco are a part of the construction planning and execution.
  • Preparing construction plans for assigned projects.
  • Conducting daily inspection and verification checks to ensure the relevant engineering standards are adhered to during construction, as per the scope specifications.

Qualification and Experience

To qualify you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline or construction management or five years of direct experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years construction engineering experience in heavy brown-field industry.

Administrative Officer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Administrative Officer in the Land Administration Department at the Williamsfield, Manchester location.

Under the supervision of the Lands Manager, this position is accountable for:

  • Timely and accurate processing of payment requests for permit clearance compensation.
  • Preparing applicable vendor forms and managing the prompt delivery of vendor payments.
  • Updating, reconciling and the close out of transactions in Payment Management System.
  • Performing general office administrative duties to support the Lands Administration and Subdivision Development teams.
  • Using Jamalco Business System to effectively manage the department activities, integrate Environment, Health and Safety in daily work, control costs and promoting teamwork through active participation in the Mining and Quality Improvement Lead Teams.

Qualification and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform multiple, detailed-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines.
