Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer (Contract)
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer to join the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) team at the Jamalco, Halse Hall location.
Reporting to the Engineering & Construction Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing all engineering documentation required for the execution of the electrical/instrumentation aspects of the assigned projects in support of the Project Team Leads and other nominated customers.
- Providing electrical engineering design for Capital and Expense projects.
- Providing engineering assistance to the Project Team Leader for works including Solution Analysis Workbook, Contract Book preparation and RFA approvals utilizing Jamalco authorization procedures.
- Participating in multi-disciplinary design and project teams to deliver high-quality, well-engineered projects for Jamalco.
- Providing guidance to the assigned project draftsman in the planning and execution of drawings/designs.
- Interacting with client representatives and plant personnel to understand design requirements to ensure successful project execution.
- Conducting verification of all Electrical & Instrumentation materials and equipment procured for the project.
- Ensuring the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) principles are integrated into the engineered design.
- Performing quality assurance checks along with the construction engineer during the construction phase of projects at pre-determined hold points.
- All aspects of the project design, including but not limited to adherence to applicable Jamalco EHS Guidelines and Engineering Standards.
- Demonstrating an understanding of the Engineering Document Management (EDM) system and the documentation requirements for submission to Document Control.
- Providing timely, accurate and complete information to the Planner/Scheduler to ensure data entry into the project schedule.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered you must have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
- Solid working knowledge of electrical engineering and design practices, inclusive of construction and maintenance experience in alumina refining chemical plant with:
- a minimum of two (2) years’ engineering experience in heavy brownfield industry;
- experience in designing industrial electrical systems, including MV and LV substations, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), single-line diagrams, feeder sizing for both MV and LV, and control schematics;
- experience in performing load flow and short circuit studies and motor starting analyses using computer modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, PSSE;
- Knowledge in industry best practices and standards such as NEC, NECS, IEEE, ANSI and IEC.
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with technological proficiency, are assets.

Sub-Division Coordinator
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of
Sub-Division Coordinator in the Land Administration department at the Jamalco, Manchester location.
Reporting to the Land Development & Disposal Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Identifying lands available for subdivision development, developing and managing detailed subdivision project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations with external land development contractors, internal engineers and buyers.
- Collaborating with the GIS Analyst to ensure all subdivisions are loaded into the lands database, and all GIS information is loaded and able to be utilized by all database users.
- Acting as an SME and the secondary contact with Irth Systems for the database, collaborating and working with the Land Development and Disposal Supervisor, to assure all parcels of interest, owned parcels, leased parcels, and company parcels are in the database, specifically including subdivisions and informal subdivisions.
- Supporting the Lands and Mines teams in collating and analyzing land data extracted from files and lands databases and assisting in the provision of accurate reports for decision making with regards to land development, subdivisions, and disposal of subdivided lands.
- Implementing and managing the Jamalco subdivision and disposal process to capture, analyze and report pertinent information to support the details of land development costs.
- Leading, guiding, and managing external development professionals, including surveyors, valuators, realtors, and developers to maximize subdivision developments and capitalize upon the development potential.
- Collaborating with the Survey, Valuation, and Leasing Coordinator to ensure timely completion of surveys, accurate valuation of all parcels, and optimization of land leasing during subdivision approvals and/or while parcels are pending sale.
- Supporting the Land Acquisition team and the Land Closing Team, to ensure adequate resettlement lands are available for acquisition, and facilitate land closing for resettled individuals.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered you must have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Land Planning, Construction Management or Construction and the Built Environment, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the real estate or construction industry.
- Surveying, land valuation, GIS, realtor license, or other relevant certifications preferred but not required.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
